VISION OF IBEC

IBEC’s vision is to become a leading center for research in tropical biodiversity and environmental conservation in Borneo and SEA region.

MISSION OF IBEC

To promote and conduct fundamental and applied research in priority areas of tropical biodiversity and environmental conversation so as to enhance our understanding of the ecological principles which support conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To encourage and promote research in ecology and conservation of the biota of Borneo, including terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

  2. To promote environmental conservation through fundamental and applied research in the rehabilitation, management and assessment of the environment, including pollution control technologies.

  3. To publish and disseminate research results through presentation in seminars and conferences and via articles in journals, monographs and books.

  4. To contribute in the academic advancement of young Malaysian through teaching and research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

STRATEGIES

  1. Identify and prioritize research in tropical biodiversity and environmental conservation.

  2. Promote research collaboration with local and international partners.

  3. Establish and strengthen linkages with local and foreign institution.

  4. Research-based post-graduate and post-doctoral programmes.

  5. Organize and participate in local and international conferences.

  6. Secure research grants from local and international sources.

  7. Establish, equip and maintain research laboratories.
